It could be almost anything. When it happened to me it was my harddrive that broke down. It worked for a while and then hanged everything. First it was once a day, then several times a day, until finally the comp refused to boot altogether. Anders On Wednesday 07 March 2001 09:19, Peter J.Pieczora wrote:
Hi all,
I seem to have a very strange problem, here it is.
For last month and a half I had a pretty well working system with suse 6.4 installed. Since yeasterday it started to hang up with no apparent reason. No input available wathsoever. After reboot worked fine but within few minutes same story. No information in logs, as to what could cause the problem. Since I have few boxes networked together I backed up the data over NFS and proceeded with fresh insall. And this is where fun begins: boot from floppy ok modules ok yast starts ( over NFS, or local CD ) ok than it hangs up when installing packages. I tried few times, and sometimes hangs up after two packages, sometimes just at the end of installation procedure. Now, what could cause that problem on system which month ago took it with no problem? This is P400, BX chipset, 256ram, 30Gb IBM hdd, Aha 2940, Aha 1520b. Anyone has an idea?
