I have a Diamond Viper 770dD (nVIDIA) grafiks card, 32 MB. I am wondering if the reason it will not work properly is that the settings in the BIOS are wrong. This is a DELL computer that origanally came with Red Hat factory installed. The BIOS settings are:
Palette Snooping [Disabled]
AGP Aperture Size [64 MB]
Default Primary Video Adapter [AGP]
I'm also using a V770 at home. I spent a bit of time with it this weekend and got it working perfectly, 3D and all. I'm using the 'nvidia' driver in XF86Config, as well as 'Load "glx"' in the "Modules" section. The only problem I have with 3D is that I have to run 'switch2nv_glx' every time I start X or log in from kdm/xdm. I'm hoping Ben or someone out there has a clue as to why I'm having to run this script every time I log in, but it's still a small price to pay to kick some ass in SOF! ;) Thanks Ben, Lenz, and all who helped me with this card!
