I too would like a better understanding of how this works. When the bind exploit came out back in January, I was confused and disappointed that YaST didn't update my version of bind. I had to manually download the rpm from ftp.suse.com and apply it.

Cory, Are you aware that you can use YaST1 to "surf" and ftp site? It will show you which package are out of date and allows you to update them. It is not with out it's downsides though. It doesn't AFAIK do dependency checking, and the FTP site can be slightly messy at times. I haven't seen a way in YaST2 to accomplish the same thing, but I haven't looked very hard. They get it right by the end of this year, I'm sure. Steve
