Hi all,
A problem that I had with 7.0 on a new machine persists with 7.1 . During a fresh install, after the "Have fun.. and "Loading Linux initimage", the installation hangs and I get a blank screen. Nothing happens after that. The machine is a 1.5 Ghz P4, with a Gig of RAM. The video card is NVIDIA with 64 mb DDR. I had trid booting with the special boot diskette for P4 in 7.0, but the same thing happened. So, I was hoping that 7.1 would be OK. This new machine had no problems loading Mandrake, so I was and still am surprised that this is occuring. Any thoughts on what to do ?
Thanks, philomena
I had the same problem with the Personal 7.1 install, the screen went blank for over 4 minutes and all I got was a white x in the middle. I was using the 3.5 boot disk to install the CD. Maybe it was calibrating the monitor I don't know but seemed to long of a time without any info. I removed the disk and CD then rebooted, on the third try it went right into yast. I have no idea why but it worked and the beads of sweat disappeared from my forehead. Just wanted to let you know you weren't the only one. P3 with a Voodoo card so it doesn't sound like hardware issues. The only thing we might have had in common was that Mandrake's boot was on the hard drive before the install? Also for those who may come upon the problem, two of my CD's labels were wrong. So if you put in CD 2 and it keeps telling you this is CD 3 it actually is. Don't go into a panic, insert three. Of course I'm probably the only one in the country this has happen to! Sheesh do I hate Murphy's Laws............ Other then that things are cool it looks nice.
