**There is another linux-newbie list elsewhere (amongst others) which are
**far more informative. They even manage to cover all the other distros
**(Red Hat, Caldera, and many others) and yet keep their traffic level
**well below that of this list.
In a stunning display of tollerance, I shall refrain from making the
obvious comment to that statement. Perhaps, if you are really new to the
list, you just happened to catch us when there isn't any MAJOR problem
happening, and most of us either bought the new 7.1 , for which we are
all wainting w/ more or less success at geniality. Some among us have
had teh mrvelous good fortune to get their paws on an actual shipped
version of 7.1 ( vs some of the group who had access to it thru work at
Suse ( USA> Europe, ENgland or where ever else ) Those of us awaiting
our own copies, have questions of those who have thier own copies in
their hot little hands. HOw *DID* the installation/updates go , for
instance. So far, most tho not all results have been glowing reports of
success, at least on a par w/ what is expected of a successful Operating
system. ( I almost added "normal" to the modifyers, but Frankly, I dont
knwo what a "normal" OS would be, perhpas one of the embedded applience
sort of computers, where you dont know, and dont need to know what the
OS is. ( But do YOu WANT your dishwasher setting up assignations w/ the
Plumbers??? OR perhaps your ice maker has a MAJOR crush ont eh market
delivery boy??? No one is talking about teh potential consequences of
all these smart appliences and letting them have unfettered Interent
access. ) Hehehehe...
However silly it sounds, someone, at least here in the good ole US of
Am will make it a class action LAw suit, either becasue they think your
Mixmaster is downloading pr0n, or they aren't happy w/ the number of
times the delivery van is outside your door! OR perhaps they think you
get fresher milk or eggs , or a better deal from the butcher... mark my
words. (VBG)
**Please may we all offer something from which others may learn ?
**
**Or at least, request help from our more experienced Linux users.
**
**To
I dont recall anyone suggesting you should NOT request help or
information from the Wizzards among us. YOu will need to state the exact
nature of the problem, and w/ any luck, hardware or software
considerations that might be needed for senible replies.
Othere than that, I suggest you spend a bit of time getting to know
your mail program better, and create some filters, word filters work
very well, adn you can tell it to seperate the messages w/ information
of interest to you in one folkdre and the rest of the list in another.
YOu never know when something discussed, perhaps in passing, will be
just the thing you want to know more about , later...
