Germany and got me a cheap plastic converter for the end in Germany. You might want to look around in eletronic shops in Germany. But I bet you will only find German->other foreign nation converters.
The best I've found in the stores (so far) is 5VDC / 800 mA. I've been told that that is not quite good enough. :(
Ask your friend in the states to stake out a Us->German converter in the states like at RadioShack or sth.
I wish there was a standard out there for this sort of thing. I am planning to move to Australia and they got another setup. It's bugging me because else I would buy lots of tech items before I move there but the transformers all would need converters. Pain in the ass.
I know what you mean. When I left the US for Germany I had to junk all my tech stuff. I had a clock radio that I loved, so I got a big 220-110v AC transformer for it. But it still did not work. It would not keep time right, oh well...

It's not only the different plug. US uses as far as I know 110/120 Volts. Germany uses 230 Volts. Connecting an US transformer to the german network will give you 10V and a nice perfume (pronounce FUME) like smell. Probably a burned down house as well.
Done the perfume dance before too. That's why I'm checking real careful this time.
Are you sure about the 5 Volts Jim? I thought they run on a higher voltage.
Yes, the label on the US transformer says "5VDC / 1000 mA" .
I don't have any 5V transformers handy. Just some 9V AC (modem), 12V (probably also modem) and 14V (old laptop mains)
One of the other guys on the list is looking for an old German Zip transformer he has. If he finds it then I'm ok.
