Anyone any idea how to do this? xdm takes the usual X config paramaters. Try if they work with KDM as well. | | Related to this: I'd like to write a message to the console (the one visible in | the lower right corner of the screen) from a script. Anyone? man logger | For those interested I'll give a little explanation: We have about 12 SuSE | machines here at work, which are all dual boot for Win NT. When someone is | working remotely someone else can reboot the machine with is annoying. If I | close the local reboot, I fear the the red (reser) button will be used too | often. I'd like to replace the standard commands executed when a user chooses | reboot from the login console with a script. This script checks if the computer | is used, and if it isn't, it then calls /sbin/reboot or /sbin/shutdown. | | If the computer is used, it should display a warning in the console to inform | the windows wannabee why the machine does not reboot. If the user closes xconsole, then they don't see a thing. All your hard work will be invain. Why don't the users type 'who' before they reboot? That is not to much asked is it? If you insist on doing the thinking for them, place an icon on the desktop which launches a shell script: a few who's, a few grep's and a view xmessage's is all it takes to have it spilled out for them if they are using the machine alone or not.
