I've been using 2.4.0 since 9th January on SuSE 6.4. USB works very well. You will need to upgrade quite a few packages to recompile the kernel. And you may find that some things need upgraded afterwards. For example, I couldn't get xfstft to work properly with 2.4.0 and so had to change to xfstt. If all this sounds too complicated, upgrade to 7.1. Darrell Nobles wrote:
Quick update question, running 6.3 and purchasing 7.1 in a few weeks, but wondering how to update pacages> I have never had a prioblem with 6.3, and the only need I have now is a USB app for my Palm Pilot and support for parallel port scanner-. I have a Red Hat book that talks about 2.4 kernel, with USB support- and PNP for par=port how true or good is it? Should I just wait to get 7.1- or can I upgrade 6.3 and play and pull out my hair.
