Actually, the problem is that Netscape is half-dead in the background.

If you exit Netscape, then do a "ps -ef | grep etsca" you should see a netscape process running. Kill that process, remove the stale lockfile and all should be well ( for a moment at least :-)

Thanks Tor. There were actually three sets of NS processes, (I used the KDE Task Manager) and each of them had echo as a zombie Next time i will look for these.
