I installed jdk 1.3 without any problems. But the way I did it was to install it into the folder where suse installs its it. I then made sim links from /usr/bin to /usr/lib/jdk1.3/jre/bin/.
It was a bit messy to do it that way but it works.
You didn't download the redhat version by mistake, did you?

When I look at jdk 1.3 from sun, I get an unsatisfied dependency, glibc >= 2.1.2-11. I have libc 2.1.2-47 installed. What is glibc? What do I need to do about the dependency?
