I'm new to linux and submitted this question two days ago but no one responded. please help
Many mail programs in use on the list do not handle html very well if at all. Plain text will get a better response rate. Messages with html <HTLM>formatting tags<\HTLM> are <P><EONT>harder to read<\EONT><\P><METI HTTP-EQUIV="Content-Type" CONTENT="text/html; charset=iso-8859-1">
Using SusE 6.4 in the windows menues I'm trying to access suse->documentation/reference->programming->libc info pages all i get is a temporary flicker of my harddrive address indicator bulb also suse->documentation/reference->unspecified->lib c manual all I get is a page called Xdvi gnu lib c manual .05 but I never see any actual documentation no matter what I click on. Does anyone know why I do not have any documentation available in these two cases? Is this future feature or require CD's or something? I did the "almost everything" option when loading the CD's and don't know how to view this libc stuff in suse 6.4
I don't know what doesn't get installed with "almost everything" but what you are looking for is in series doc. This is for 7.0 and probably 6.4 as well. The packages are libcinfo and possibly gppinfo and libchtml. The info files should install to /usr/share/info/ and the html version would be in /usr/share/doc/glibc/. Also double check to make sure you have the info system installed, IIRC texinfo is needed and optional viewers include xinfo and pinfo (the latter being curses based). If you are having trouble using the info system, have a look here and pay attention to the footnotes about notation http://sunsite.ualberta.ca/Documentation/Gnu/texinfo-4.0/html_chapter/ info-stnd_toc.html That should all be one line but it may get chopped so be ready to cut and paste. Good luck, Tim P.S. The html tag errors at the top are intentional.;-)
