<p>For the dollar or mark yes the Athlon is a fast bang, yet the stability
and SMP capability of Intel systems still maintains an edge. It is quite a
broad market and the needs you have and the budget really are the
decisive factors. Myself, I run on PPC for daily use, and do not see a
reason to change because of the performance and quality of the HW. If you
are compiling apps on ia32 and do this as a matter of routine you might
consider an Intel a step back from the new releases of P4
