I have had this on going problem with xntpd. I manually set the time with ntpdate clock.isc.org, which sets the clock fine. Then I start xntpd with the init script. It runs for awhile but it seems that it can't keep up or loses sync. Could this be a battery issue on the mobo? I have the proper udp ports opened on my firewall (SuseFirewall is great): ACCEPT udp ------ anywhere sc-24-130-150-58.socal.rr.com any -> ntp ACCEPT udp ------ anywhere sc-24-130-150-58.socal.rr.com any -> ntp Output from tcpdump: 11:03:47.326758 arp who-has sc-24-130-151-223.socal.rr.com tell sc-24-130-148-1.socal.rr.com 11:03:49.104151 sc-24-130-150-58.socal.rr.com.ntp > ns.scruz.net.ntp: v4 client strat 2 poll 7 prec -17 11:03:49.104349 sc-24-130-150-58.socal.rr.com.ntp > clock.llnl.gov.ntp: v4 client strat 2 poll 6 prec -17 11:03:49.105793 sc-24-130-150-58.socal.rr.com.2179 > ns1.socal.rr.com.domain: 13607+ PTR? 1.1.227.165.in-addr.arpa.
