Also, make sure your boot order is set to EXT/C/CDROM
As for the patch, the SuSE 2.2.16 has the patch in the
source code. It will work without the patch, but not
very well.

7.0 pro just arrived and I decided to liberate an Abit BP6 dual celeron mobo for the new machine.
However, the second ide controller (an ata 66 interface) isn't getting automagically recognized. Does anyone know which module I have to load to get it correctly used.
To get it installed on 6.4, I used the EIDE boot disk. If you've already done this, try the following. When I built mine, the board had shipped with a BIOS that had known issues with Linux, and the hard drive I bought was flaky, so I learned all about the BP6.
First, make sure everything is right with the controller and mobo. Make sure you've got the 'QQ" or "RU" BIOS. If not, download it and flash the BIOS. Also, make sure the BIOS is set up properly. Mine wasn't set up right out of the box.
When you boot, make sure that all devices are detected properly when the controller is initialized at bootup. If not, check the setup on the controller.
Oh, BTW, if you compile a Linus kernel for this board, make sure to add Andre Hedrick's EIDE patch. That's where the drivers live.
