Hi ! I have read about Kernel 2.2.17 under some news groups.
Have SuSE made a version of that Kernel release ?
Yes, it is called 2.2.16.SuSE and is the standard kernel in 7.0. A new kernel is not developed overnight, but over time, and our developers together with VA are - according to Linus Torvalds - the biggest contributors to kernel development. That means our developers always know all the patches that are out there. ThatŽs why our 2.2.16 has 3.2 MB (compressed!) patches, and has almost everything (plus many features more) 2.2.17 has. Do I begin to sound like a marketing person? Great ;-) ! If you want to test our very latest internal kernels anyway, go to ftp.suse.com/pub/people/mantel/. However, the kernels we release with the distribution go through a lot of testing, and IŽd not use anything else unless - IŽm a kernel hacker and know what IŽm doing - just testing new stuff - need features in newer kernels -- To unsubscribe send e-mail to suse-linux-e-unsubscribe@suse.com For additional commands send e-mail to suse-linux-e-help@suse.com Also check the FAQ at http://www.suse.com/support/faq
