Yes. I have experience with both. I use Zoomtown here in Cincinnati Ohio and it works great! That is...if you're talking about ADSL. The router/modem is a totally separate entity from Linux and has it's own os and commands to contend with. I don't know much about the setup of the modem/router but I have read a little about them in a book about Cisco routers. All I do is use lynx to connect through the router to the internet and I share my connection to another computer which runs Win95 and also run Samba to share files through our intranet.
