I just changed the command in netscape to
lpr -Pljet4 and tried to print. No errors appeared and all seems normal, but nothing prints.
yes that is better.
In the file /var/spool/lpd/ljet4-a4-auto-mono-600/status I find "ljet4 is ready and printing"
This shows the linux side. Unfortunately samba_print doesn't sense wether there is a printer or not, wether the printer is up alive or in a bad mood. uncomment the logging line in samba_print and look for the output error messages. mail those.
The printer(HP LaserJet 4 Plus) is hooked up to a computer using Windows.
Is ljet4 the proper driver for HP LaserJet 4 Plus?
doesn't sound to wrong. If the printer blinks and prints garbage, or blinks and stops you have won (almost) If it stais silent, you're in trouble. That's why I send you digging for error messages. Juergen
Thanks George
