hi, Im pretty p...ed off about the SAX 4 settings in SUSE 7.0 - To be honest I just dont understand it at all ! if I run my sys with sax3.3 everything works fine. When I try to switch to version 4 I can install it okay but when I reboot my sys the most weird error occures !:::
After reboot it goes to my default runlevel 5 and when I the try to type in user and password my entire keyboard layout is gone. its not that it is german instead of english - its somthing really really weird - all characters are on different keys and even control-alt-delete isnt workin anymore. M keyboard is using the PS2 port.
can somebody relate to that problem? how can I reinstall sax3.3 now ? when I cant even type in correctly.!
My guess you installed the wrong keyboard. Either you picked the wrong one or the system guessed wrong
<SNIP> Hi, I had exactly the same problem moving from 3.3.6 to 4. The problem was not in installing the wrong keyboard but in allowing Sax2 to use the 3.3.6 configuration files. i found that by unchecking that option and manually configuruing the mouse and keyboard all turned out well. I also spent forever mapping the keyboard - the only letter missing was "a" which was in every password on my system! At bootup go to runlevel 2 and run sax2 from the command line.
