Hello,
I have a Suse 6.4 Nis/Nfs-client. It frequently looses it's connection to the Nis-server. The server is Suse 6.4 with Release-kernel and a Tru64unix as secondary. They are set in the clients yp.conf.
We have Suse 6.3 and 5.3 clients as well. They seem to be more stable.
On the 6.4 client /sbin/init.d/ypclient stop/start resolves the problem. I had installed a 6.4 Release-kernel (2.2.14). Now I've changed to public 2.2.17. I've also tried to revert to 6.3's ypclient 3.4.-14 which seems to be more stable than the one of 6.4. Shared libraries are shlibs-2.1.3-154.
Has anybody an idea how to fix this problem?
Altering yp.conf to contain only the line "domain <your nis domain> broadcast" Appears to work better than explicitally listing servers. But you then need to take care that you don't trash it with SuSEconfig. -- Mark Evans St. Peter's CofE High School Phone: +44 1392 204764 X109 Fax: +44 1392 204763 -- To unsubscribe send e-mail to suse-linux-e-unsubscribe@suse.com For additional commands send e-mail to suse-linux-e-help@suse.com Also check the FAQ at http://www.suse.com/support/faq
