If I were you, I'd not bother with the standard firewall supplied by SuSE. I downloaded PMFirewall from http://www.pmfirewall.com/ which is great IMHO. It is a shell script which when executed, asks you questions about your network setup and internet connection. You answer the questions and it generates ipchains scripts which configure your firewall for security and masquerading. It even starts up automatically at boot time so once configured you can forget all about it. You can even tweak the generated scripts by adding your own rules at the end of one of the generated files. I struggled quite a lot trying to get the SuSE firewall to work with my shared cable modem connection. Worked first time with PMFirewall though. Hope this helps. I am having the exact same problem.
So far, the only success I have had was to set the firewall policy to ACCEPT everything. That allowed me to ping the internet, but now Netscape says the server refuses the connection.
What script? I looked for one called "masquerade" and could not find it.
You only need masquerade on the router, but it is not resolved yest whether the other machines need to specify a proxy.
There is nothing in the manual, you will have to use the online FAQs.

I've setup the masq/firewal script according to the manual for 6.4 but I don't think the manual is complete. Or I'm missing something. What else must I do to access the internet on the other two computers? Do I need to set up the masq on them too?
Thanks,
Jay
