Hello Brian, on Monday, August 28, 2000 at 08:57:56 +0930, you sat in front of your keyboard and wrote:
Suse 6.4 kernel 2.2.16 backport patch usb-2.4.0-test2-pre2-for-2.2.16-v3.diff
Having failed to configure my usb modem with the above I am now looking at using a recent kernel.
Is anyone successfully using 2.4.0 test6 kernel under Suse 6.4 ? What problems an I likely to encounter ?
Any feedback appreciated.
Brian Marr
Yes, I successfully used 2.4.0-test6 and test7 with a SuSE 6.3 box. The more
annoying problem that I encountered was that the modules directory structure
has changed thus leading to dependencies errors at boot time. I solved it by
adding 'path=/lib/modules/2.4.0-test7/kernel' to the beginning of the
/etc/modules.conf file. Obviously, doing that cause dependences errors when
switching back to 2.2.x kernel (I don't know a better way to do that).
As far as the USB is concerned, I haven't tested it yet cause I don't own any
USB device.
Regards...
