Thanks Purple Shirt,
create groups 'floppy' and 'cdrom'
chown /floppy and /cdrom to these groups
I did this bit and nothing changed!
suid /bin/mount as well
I did this bit and it worked, I even used this without making the groups. Question using suid in this way does this make system unsecure as reading in security matters should not use suid wherever possible.
Then make your users belong to those groups.
Did not have to as I just used suid on mount and umount.
SuSE could create automatically groups 'floppy, cdrom, dvd, zip, zipdos' then create directories /zip,/zipdos,/dvd' chown those to those groups.
Does not compute?
Subject: [SLE] mount: only superuser can mount Date: Tue, 15 Aug 2000 08:21:29 +0800
This message is appearing since upgrading kernel to 2.2.16, I thought it was fstab, but it is same as before upgrade. It happens with any user except root of course, is it simple to rectify or do I need to provide more info.
I have modified fstab to users from user no change and given users in group administration permissions for each user in group users.
