I recently bought a new PC. 800Mhz AMD Athlon, Creative GeForce 256 DDR graphics card, 128Mb of 133Mhz RAM, 30Gb hd unformatted. I have the SuSe 6 CD set, and a single SuSe evaluation CD.
Is this version 6.0???
My hard disk is partitioned as follows: hda3: 1Gb, mount / hda1: Windows 98 hda2: extended hda5: 3Gb, mount /home swap: ???Mb (i know this is weird, still messing with it)
When I booted from either CD 1 or the evaluation, bad things happened. The initial colour-text-mode splash screen appeared, with a LILO boot: prompt. This nearly immediately started launching a kernel from the CD. Boom... here's the last line of good output plus all the error trace.
mtrr: v1.35 (19990512) general protection fault: 0000
the mtrr error makes me think you need an Athlon boot disk. If it is 6.0 then I'm pretty sure the older kernels will cause you problems.
