I just purchased an HP 9210i CD-RW drive and am having trouble getting it to work with SuSe 6.1 (2.2.5 kernel). Others who have the drive say that it works just fine by following the instructions in the CD-Writing HowTo. I followed those instructions and still nothing.. The instructions mention insmod'ing a bunch of stuff including scsi_mod. Is this module necessary to be able to talk to the SCSI bus? All the insmod's mentioned in the HowTo work, except for the scsi_mod (because there is no scsi_mod in SuSe 6.1). Is the SCSI control built into the kernel instead? I tried YaST, and it only allows to configure one CD-ROM, ... how do I configure another CD-RW? But I have a feeling no SCSI device would work. When I do a cat /proc/devices, sg or sr do not come up, and the error I get when I run cdrecord -scanbus is that there is no scsi device. But I know there is, because on boot up, the card and CD-RW appear on the screen (The CD-RW is registered as #6 on the card, which is #0). Please help or point me to a good resource besides the HowTo. Thanks. -Uge ________________________________________________________________________ Get Your Private, Free E-mail from MSN Hotmail at http://www.hotmail.com -- To unsubscribe send e-mail to suse-linux-e-unsubscribe@suse.com For additional commands send e-mail to suse-linux-e-help@suse.com Also check the FAQ at http://www.suse.com/support/faq
