has anybody come across this ?
I have (had) a Seagate 38410 8.4G hard disk that I was going to use on one of my machines.. I had had a couple of issues with it so thought that I would run a thorough scandisk on it (yes I know tis windows - please excuse this....) I reached cluster 1,510,000 or thereabouts and then this clunking noise emanates from the drive - now it is completely shagged, the bios will not recognise it and there is a screech on power up - basically windows has appeared to extract its revenge on yet another user.........
be warned - scandisk is extremely hazardous to your drives health..
Only if it was an unhealthy drive in the first place. I quit using Seagate and WD drives long, and have been relatively stress free ever since.
