hi all,
i'm a new bebie in linux. i want install the tar and rpm files that i've downloaded from net. i know few..and seems that it didn't really work. i need your help. i'm dying here:) these are the things i do to install a tar file:
tar xvfz file ./configure make make install
Ace, Before you do the final (make install) step, you must be Root. The make_install routine is where the program actually writes its' files to your system. If the errors you are getting are concerning things like "can't write to file xyz: permission denied" this is the reason. So once you have done; ./configure make Then, change to Root, and do; make install Exit from Root, Run the programme. Have fun!!! HTH -- This Email is 100% Virus Free! How do I know?
