Hi all,
I have an internal SCSI HP-DDS2 tape drive on my Linux box.. My system (at under 2 Gb ) .. is small enough to be backed up fully ...
Is K-dat a good enough utility for this task ? I haven't tried 'taper' yet ...

Kdat is unreliable at best. I have the same hardware as you, it sounds. I have been using taper and it has worked beautifully. The interface is a little rough, but it's a good tool.
Yeah. taper's great except for one small (not) problem... if your disk crashes and you replace it and need to restore your system, you'll pretty much need to reinstall Linux and taper before you can restore your tapes. Not good, in my estimation. -- Brad Shelton On Line Exchange http://online-isp.com -- To unsubscribe send e-mail to suse-linux-e-unsubscribe@suse.com For additional commands send e-mail to suse-linux-e-help@suse.com Also check the FAQ at http://www.suse.com/support/faq
