Hi all, I finally got my sister to convert to Linux and got all the hardware setup and running nice (even the generic sound card and the winprinter!! :) but one thing that is annoying here is that when she clicks on a .mp3 file in kfm (kde file manager) it doesn't do anything. .wav files open up in media play and automatically start to play file, but .mp3 files just "sit" there and don't response to the click. I created a new mime type in ~/.kde/share/mimelnk ( I forgot the exact location ) called x-mp3.kdelnk and setup everything in properties and it did change the icon (for .mp3 files) in kfm, but in properties where it has "default" applications, xmms isn't listed. I went into the properties of xmms icon on her desktop that I created and "assocated" audio/x-mp3 with it, but it still didn't work. So my question is 1) how do you add something to the "default application" list in the properties of the mime type? 2) i have no clue when it comes to kde, what would be the best way to setup kfm so a click on a .mp3 file would automatically open it in xmms and automatically start playing it?
