Please forget about the message below, it was a stupid error of mine. However, I do have a similar problem, but only with the XiG server (Xaccel). The error is not the same. When I link X to Xaccel and call xinit, I get execve failed for /usr/X11R6/bin/X (errno 40) This server used to work OK with SuSE 6.3. Moreover, it still works to some extent - if I call Xaccel, I do get the graphic X screen but of course I have no window manager. On Mon, Jun 19, 2000 at 02:44:22PM +0200, Andrei Mircea wrote:
I cannot start X. Sax works well and configures a XF86Config without any problem. However when I try starting X I get the following message:
execve failed for /usr/X11R6/bin/X (errno 2)
Even more puzzling is the fact that I could start it a few times, with different window managers but now it doesn't start anymore. AFAIK execve is a C language statement. But it gives me no clue how to get around this problem. It is the first time I encounter it. I don't know if there is any relation between this problem and the one concerning mc, reported previously.
