I started out with sax2, and executed:
rpm -Uvh sax2-4.0-22.i386.rpm
After I installed xbanner and perl_tk from my cd's (since they were missing) I tried to install sax2 again - but I am still getting this:
libreadline.so.4 needed by sax2-4.0-22
Now I searched in yast for this library, and found out it is installed in the bash package, in /lib
I checking in /lib, and it is there - but it is not a file, its a symbolic link to libreadline.so.4.0. There is also a symbolic link called libreadline.so in /usr/lib
So, after this long winded discussion, my question is - how can I get rpm to recognize that I have this library? What am I doing wrong?
If you are sure that you have it installed, then you can install the rpm by typing in the following as root: rpm -Uvh --nodeps sax2-4.0-22.i386.rpm That will ignore all of the dependencies, and allow you to install the package.
