I've got A suse 6.3 machine as my firewall, public DNS, sendmail, httpd, NAT and so on. I've got another machine that I'd like to use as a mirror. Normally I'd let it run on a second IP number running a secondary slave DNS and a secondary MX machine. The idea is if the first machine is down then at least the second machine will get my mail. But I'd also like to have this machine ready to take over if the first machine fails by changing its IP number to the IP of my main machine. I'm wondering 1) what's the easiest way to initially make a copy of the first machine and put it on the second machine 2) what's the best way to keep the machine up to date as time goes on. 3) what changes besides yast would be required if I need to replace the main machine with the backup (e.g. change its IP number). Any suggestions?
