I am using the Lucent Technologies WaveLan cards to network my laptop to the rest of my network. They work great with Linux (you can download the latest driver source code from their web site), Linux is fully supported by Lucent and they are fast (11M). They transmit on 2.4 GHz frequency and if you get the gold version you can set them to encrypt the transmission so that other people will not be able to eavesdrop on your network. They are not cheap though, especially when you use them with a desktop machine since you will need to get their PCMCIA adapter card or a desktop PCMCIA reader (which is what I did). I would like to use the in-house phone wiring or a wireless LAN. Our two computers are at opposite ends of the house and I don't want to poke holes in the walls and run wire. Any experience with this?
TIA, Jeffrey
