Right, make sure you switched the proxy settings in Netscape (or whatever browser you're using). See if you're running a firewall, for example using the SuSE firewall package - you check most easily by typing ipchains -L. If you are running a firewall, make sure that the port you're accessing your proxy through is not being blocked at all. I don't know if any of this is helpfull - where are you getting the "Access Denied" message from?

Although Apache can be used as a proxy server, I would use Squid instead - it's designed specifically for this task.
