Dear list,
I want to configure my system so that it automatically starts an X client at startup (xdm runs fine), so that I can run applications from a WinNT system.
What is the best way to achieve this? (I don't need the graphical desktop systematically on my Linux system, but is installed and runs correctly.)
With kind regards,
Evert
Make sure runlevel 3 is the default runlevel in /etc/inittab. Yours is probably defaulted to 2. Doublecheck you have a fully functional X env! BTW, this automatically gives you X on the console. If you don't want this, have xdm fired up from the runlevel 2 init scripts (/sbin/init.d/rc2.d) Cheers, Koos Pol ---------------------------------------------------------------------- S.C.
