DOS/Fat16 does not support long filenames - you'd have to use vfat (FAT32) format on the floppy.

Hi,
This is driving me nuts, particularly because I had it working, but can't make
it work again. (I setup a new box.... and the old one is gone for 15 days, at
least).
Suppose I have a Dos formatted floppy with a filename like mybigfieexample.txt.
What do I need to place in fstab so that upon mounting the floppy I see:
mybigfileexample.txt and NOT mybigf~1.txt
I tried "auto" and "umdos" to no avail.
All hints are appreciated. Thanks,
