[SLE] Upgrading to libjpeg-6.2, lots of problems

Hello all, I recently put the latest Afterstep into my computer. I found that it needed libjpeg-6.2, so I installed it. Now any time I run any other program that uses images, I get errors saying that libjpeg-6.1 is needed. I thought that programs that needed libraries would use a specified version OR HIGHER. This is similar to the problems I had upgrading libgtk+. Is there something fundamentally wrong with my system?
