Hi, Just to beat my head against a wall, I've been doing some kernel compiling to see if I can get my awe32 sound card to play midis. It plays wavs, etc., alright. Problem 1: The awe_wave module compiles OK, but when I try to load it with insmod awe_wave, I get the error message: ############ zentara:~/bin # insmod awe_wave Using /lib/modules/2.2.14/misc/awe_wave.o /lib/modules/2.2.14/misc/awe_wave.o: couldn't find the kernel version the module was compiled for. ############ I compiled the modules right after I compiled the kernel? What's up? Are the sound drivers getting out of date with the new kernels? I even tried the kernel option "set version information on all modules" to allow modules to run under different kernels. Same error either way. :-( Problem 2: When I recompile a kernel, using the exact same config, which I had saved, I get slightly different kernel sizes. They differ by 100 bytes or so, as 598,021 vs. 598,111. How come? If anyone can shed light on these mysteries, I would appreciate it.
