I've got a clean 6.4 install (not an upgrade) and things work just fine apart from one annoying problem, sometimes (> 50% of the time), when I invoke yast, it just hangs when it gets to the: YaST Version 1.05.2 -- (c) 1994-2000 SuSE GmbH creen (as it starts up). The process list shows: joshaugh 29468 0.0 0.7 3852 1972 ? S 10:35 0:00 xterm -bg LightGoldenRod -fn 9x15 -geometry 80x25 -vb +sb -T YaST -n YaST -e su - -c yast root 29469 0.0 0.3 1672 996 pts/5 S 10:35 0:00 su - -c yast root 29470 0.2 0.6 4420 1584 pts/5 D 10:35 0:00 yast In this case I've started yast from the SuSE menu under gnome, but I get the same problem even if I start it from the command line. When this happens, I can't close the window, I have to kill it. However, I can't kill all of the above processes (even doing a kill -9 as root) and I always get left with: root 29470 0.1 0.6 4420 1584 ? D 10:35 0:00 yast The only way I found to get rid of this is to reboot - yuk, why do you think I *don't* use MS products! Once I get in this state, yast will never start (always hangs) until I reboot. Any ideas?
