The usr/local/apache was the default path that apache compiled into... I would like to stick with the defaults of the package rather than "if it doesn't fit, force it" into an operating system. I assumed that it would not be that hard to do (run it at boot from its default location).
Anyhoo, tried your suggestion by putting a link in the usr/sbin/ to the httpd binary and setting the rc.config to load http. Still nothing. I am not sure where I am going wrong.
I had hoped that it would not be this difficult.
