I Loaded it last weekend replacing not upgrading 6.3. I found with 6.3 that I had to manually partition the VMWare disc, and perform a full format, otherise YAST fell over with disk errors. As I have installed into an already grown VMWare disc I don't know if this is still a problem. Anyway since then I have upgraded to VMWare 2 so possibly the problem has gone away. I istalled using Yast2, but told it not to setup the X server. I manually installed this from VMWare 2 by using the emulated tools floppy disc. The X server installed correctly and the system appears to be functioning as expected. Graphics performance is a bit slow, but I have tied using the MIX X server on the same box under windows 2000 at it appears to work well.
