Just about all of the suggestions have been for external modems....is there a reason for the preference, or could I look for an internal version of these brands?
I think externals are easier to set up especially considering all of the troubles I had with an isa-pnp type a while ago. Other advantages include mobility across machines (mine moves from a pc to an alpha without any hastles, yes I need another hub port) and they can be reset with a flick of a switch without rebooting. I'm not sure how well usb modems are supported though. In all it's more a personal chioce, possibly dictated by available outlets and desk space. Tim -- You have just received the UNIX virus!
