If you look at his request, especially number 2, then VNC does this. I use Nt at work and VNC to other machines. They can move the mouse and I can move the same mouse pointer. Yes, conflicts occur - but that is how I interpreted Request #2. When I posted the original reply I was thinking about the Java VNC app running through a web browser. Yes, VNC behaves the same on Linux as it does on NT. Kev

VNC should be able to do both this. I know it does it for Windows - and, yes, running it on Linux it behaves differently, but I think this is the path that others will recommend.

Not exactly. I mean, if you use VNC I can see what you do (although it has a cost performance wise, since it seems to slow down quite a bit if two users run it at the same time), but I cannot control the other user's pointer without interefering with their regular session. At that point, it starts doing some quirky things. In any case, I seriously doubt he will be able to find any software that allows him to do all those things.

Hi there.
I'm trying to accomplish 2 related things:
----- Scenario 1: I would like whatever is displayed on my screen (under X) to be displayed on the screen of other hosts.
So for e.g. if I move the pointer around, or type a document, the other hosts should be able to see me do it.
Scenario 2: I would like to seize control of a remote users x-session, so that I can see what they're doing, and control their mouse pointer, keyboard YET still allowing them to control the pointer and keyboard, as required.
-----
I've read the remote X mini-howto but it doesn't explain this, so any help would be greatly appericated.
You see, i'm going to conduct a training program, and I believe this fuctionality will aid me (and the students) in the classroom..
Regards, Jason.
