Some distributions have something called 'rgrep' but I have not seen it on suse. So, you might try:
find . -type f | xargs grep arch4
Or, I have set rgrep to an alias in my .bashrc:
find . -type f | xargs grep !*
For rgrep to really do its job, something more elaborate is needed, I'm afraid, so that any additional grep-ish parameters passed to rgrep behave as they would if passed to grep. Something I've been meaning to program myself, but haven't. I think getargs is the prescription.
