hello, I like to experiment with one floppy systems. Idea is, to use it as an alternative tool to "wipedisk" to wash off data from old harddrives. this can be done with "dd if=/dev/zero of/dev/hda bs=512". I stumbled over Tom's root boot floppy (overzize 3 1/2" with 1722KB http:/www.toms.net/rb). On a 2.2.x system, The available hd's types and sizes are easy found in /proc/ide. Tom's boot still uses a 2.0.37 kernel and the /proc looks a bit different. I'd like to automatise the process and need a way to find the names and amount of local hard drives, if more than one and like to leave out CD-ROM's any suggestions handy?
