How can I locate the latest rpm on the SuSE website for a particular package? In particular, I'm looking for the latest version of ghostscript. I can use
rpm -qf
to locate the package that owns a particular piece of ghostscript in my current system, but that doesn't tell me which of the SuSE packages I should be looking in (a1, a2, x1, x2, x3, xap1, xdev1, etc.), and the SuSE ftp site is organized using those directories.
Even though I have a particular case in mind, I'm looking for the general solution.
One way would be to look at the SuSE CD#1 There is a file called archives.gz (or something very similar) The procedure is as following: 1) either a) download the archives.gz from FTP or b) mount CD#1 2) cd to the / of the CD (or where you downloaded the file to) 3) zcat archives.gz | grep rpmfilename Of course, if the actual filename is different from archives.gz you will have to use the correct filename.
