Ok ok...just a couple of questions. I have a Suse 6.0 server for almost everything...web server, NFS server, Samba Server and so on so on... Ok...I managed to setup and run samba version 1.9 i believe....so I can see the server name from the Windows 98 clients....no all of them...I think it is only from selected clients...allthought most of the clients that run w98 have the same TCP/IP settings. Why is that?? Any reason...I am sure the Domain has nothing to do with that. Then I can see only a few of the W98 machines from the Samba server. Why?? And they are not even from the same workgroup...in fact the workgroup appears empty. As I said I can see the the Samba server from a few W98 machines and when I go to access the public directory that I have set up it asks me for a password...as it should do. But since this bull**** with encrypted and unencrypted password use between W98 and Samba I cannot log in. Of course I add the apporpriate lines encrypt passwords = yes smb passwd file = /etc/smbpasswd to the /etc/smb.conf file but when I reload smb the server dissapears completely from every machine...it is unavailable. I can always adjust the registry of the w98 machines but they are many many many so i need to do the modifications on the server...what's the solution? Thanx...
