Thanks. Just for grins, I decided to try knapster. It does seem to work very well with Suse 6.3. I'm pleasantly surprised (it's my first experience with mp3 format) with the quality of the sound. Downloads will be awfully slow on my 54k modem connection though. On Sun, 07 May 2000, Ken Archer wrote:
Why do you say that? I use the knapster-0.10-1.i386.rpm and it works as well as the official windoze version. I have about 3,600 song titles on my box to base that recommendation on.
Just forget knapster. In its current state it works by sheer accident, if it works at all. The author of knapster can't have much experience in writing multithreaded C++ apps judging from the code , as it has severe design problems. BTW, I don't have that experience either, but my best friend, who has 10 years experience in that area, told me so when I told him of my problems getting that code to compile. Philipp Thomas
