Greetz, people. I haven't seen this mentioned here yet, but I just checked the NVIDIA website, and as of yesterday, NVIDIA has released a beta XFree 4.0 GLX and Kernel module. (As a side note, I returned my system to 3.3.6 when I couldn't find drivers, but my shipment of 6.4 should be here in the next hour or two, anyway...) Point is, I'll do a fresh format and install tonight when I get home, and try out the new drivers. They are beta, but hey... At least it's something. I was **ALMOST** to the point of getting a V3 :)
They have been out since last week, and I have them installed. I can play Quake3 at 1024x768 at full speed with a GeForce 256. I had a little trouble getting it too work, but the instructions it comes with are very accurate. I have tried some other demos I have that are linked to libGL.so and all I can say is, it is much much more than I ever expected. It easily matches my Windows performance if not surpassing it.
