Hi, I had posted this message earlier, but i got no replies. I am once again posting it in the hope of receiving some solutions for this. I have installed 6.3 linux (kernel 2.2.13) on my P III m/c with Intel 810 chipset integrated AGP and Sound card. I downloaded latest version of alsa (0.5.7) and compiled the drivers on my m/c. The alsaconf was able to recognise my sound card, but when i gave `cat /dev/sndstat`, it prompted `no such device`. The lines in /etc/conf.modules for the Intel 810 sound card are # --- BEGIN: Generated by ALSACONF, do not edit. --- # --- ALSACONF verion 0.4.3b --- alias char-major-116 snd alias snd-card-0 snd-card-intel8x0 alias char-major-14 soundcore alias sound-slot-0 snd-card-0 alias sound-service-0-0 snd-mixer-oss alias sound-service-0-1 snd-seq-oss alias sound-service-0-3 snd-pcm-oss alias sound-service-0-8 snd-seq-oss alias sound-service-0-12 snd-pcm-oss options snd snd_major=116 snd_cards_limit=1 snd_device_mode=0660 snd_device_gid=17 snd_device_uid=0 options snd-card-intel8x0 snd_index=0 snd_id=CARD_0 snd_pbk_frame_size=128 snd_cap_frame_size=128 snd_mic_frame_size=128 # --- END: Generated by ALSACONF, do not edit. --- When i try to play some sound files (MP3), i get this message in the /var/log/kern.log, Apr 30 16:24:57 alpha kernel: PCI: Increasing latency timer of device 00:fd to 64 Apr 30 16:24:57 alpha kernel: snd: card is out of range (0-0) Apr 30 16:25:22 alpha modprobe: modprobe: Can't locate module sound-service-0-3 What can be problem??
