That was recently mentioned: It't the fourth partition used, for compatibility with Macs. My IOMEGA disks (ATAPI) mount nice as /dev/hdd. Everyone else seem to have hd?4.
I use such a drive on the parallel port, as faked SCSI, and noticed that all Zip disks come pre-formatted so to use the fourth partition. Just out of curiosity, does someone know why, or how, the Mac imposes this?
